Re:Cap

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Re:Cap is a local-first recording and action-list app. Your recordings, notes, markers, and projects live on your device. This page explains what that means in practice and the limited cases where third-party services are involved.

01Overview

Re:Cap is designed to keep your content under your control. Audio recordings and the content you create inside the app — sessions, markers, marker notes, and projects — are stored locally on your device. Re:Cap does not operate its own backend for storing your audio recordings or session content.

Some narrow functions rely on platform services or a subscription provider. Those cases are described below.

02Information Stored on Your Device

The following are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to a Re:Cap server:

Because this content lives on your device, only people with access to your device can access it through the app.

03Audio Recordings and Microphone Access

Re:Cap requests microphone permission for one purpose: to record audio when you choose to start a recording. The microphone is not used in the background for any other purpose, and recorded audio is written to local storage on your device.

04Optional Calendar, Reminders, and Sharing

Calendar and Reminders permissions are optional. They are only requested if you choose to export items from Re:Cap into those system apps. If you do not use those export actions, Re:Cap does not need those permissions.

On iOS, sharing exports through the system share sheet is initiated by you. The destination (for example, Messages, Mail, Notes, or a third-party app) is something you pick at the moment of sharing, and what you share with that destination is governed by that destination’s own privacy practices.

05Purchases and Subscriptions

If you purchase a Re:Cap subscription, the purchase itself is handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple is responsible for App Store payments, billing, and refunds, in accordance with Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.

Re:Cap uses RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlement and purchase status — for example, to determine whether your account is entitled to paid features on your device. As part of this, limited subscription-related information may be processed by RevenueCat on Re:Cap’s behalf. Re:Cap does not use this information for advertising and does not sell it.

06Data We Do Not Sell or Use for Advertising

07Backups and Device Storage

Because Re:Cap content is stored locally on your device, you are responsible for backups. If you delete the Re:Cap app, reset your device, lose your device, or clear app data, your local recordings and other Re:Cap content may be lost. Standard device-level backup mechanisms provided by your operating system may or may not include Re:Cap content, depending on your settings.

08Third-Party Services

Re:Cap relies on a small number of third-party services for specific, limited purposes:

These providers operate under their own privacy policies. Re:Cap does not share your recordings, markers, marker notes, or projects with these providers.

09Children’s Privacy

Re:Cap is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended for their use. Re:Cap does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When it is updated, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change. Continued use of Re:Cap after an update means you accept the updated policy.
